Agate

Agate: A Gemstone with Rich History and Multifaceted Benefits

Agate, also known by various names such as Ma Nao or Horse Brain, is a type of chalcedony mineral. It often contains bands of opal and cryptocrystalline quartz, exhibiting a layered and colorful appearance. Agate's history dates back approximately 100 million years. Due to tectonic movements, underground magma erupted and cooled, with steam and other gases forming bubbles. These bubbles were trapped in the rock as it solidified, creating numerous cavities. Over time, these cavities filled with silica-rich solutions that solidified into silica gel. Iron-containing rock elements mixed with the silica gel, ultimately crystallizing into agate.
