Amethyst Geode

What Is an Amethyst Geode?

An amethyst geode is a hollow volcanic rock lined with sparkling violet quartz crystals — nature's own cathedral, formed over millions of years as mineral-rich waters crystallized inside gas bubbles in cooling lava. Split open, it reveals a glittering cave of purple points. Treasured in feng shui as a powerful emblem of gathered wealth and flowing opportunity, it is the classic statement piece for homes, offices and shops.

Geode Shapes & Styles

• Dinosaur-egg geodes — whole egg-shaped nodules, split to reveal the crystal cave inside; striking natural sculpture.
• Money-bag (錢袋) carvings — geodes carved into the lucky money-bag form, the traditional feng shui symbol for holding wealth.
• Cathedral geodes — tall, church-like formations with deep purple points; the grandest display pieces.
• How to choose — look for deep, even purple color and well-formed, sparkling points; a larger cave reads as a more generous "container" of energy.

What Is an Amethyst Geode Good For?

In crystal tradition, the geode's cave-like form is read as a vessel that gathers and amplifies energy — which is why feng shui practice places amethyst geodes where wealth is welcomed: entrances, offices, shops and cashier areas. Practitioners also value the geode as a space cleanser: its radiant points are traditionally said to refresh the energy of a room — and of the smaller crystals placed inside it. And like all amethyst, it carries the stone's signature calming presence: a grand, beautiful reminder to breathe.

How to Use an Amethyst Geode

• Wealth corner — Place a geode in the wealth area of your home or shop, or near the entrance, as the traditional emblem of gathered prosperity.
• On the desk — A money-bag carving or small geode keeps your workspace feeling bright and opportunity-ready.
• Recharge your collection — Rest bracelets and smaller stones inside the geode overnight to refresh them.
• As natural art — Dinosaur-egg and cathedral geodes are conversation pieces that bring geological drama to any room.

Care & Cleansing

• Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight — amethyst's purple fades with extended sun exposure; display away from bright windows.
• Dust gently with a soft brush; avoid letting water pool inside the cavity.
• Cleansing: amethyst geodes are traditionally considered self-refreshing — many practitioners rarely cleanse them. For a periodic reset, leave the geode in moonlight around the full moon, or rest a Clear Quartz cluster nearby. Read our full cleansing guide.
• Avoid salt water — some shops recommend it as a cleansing method, but salt can permanently dull or damage the surface.
